About Terry
Terry grew up in Connecticut, has lived in several states across the country, and has called Colorado her home for more than 30 years now. She and her husband have four children and six grandchildren, who reside in different states. So they get to travel a lot to visit the kiddos. In her spare time, Terry likes to garden, ski, show dog agility with her Lab, and ride her horses bareback.
Terry has been riding horses since she could walk. She has owned many pets, including horses, dogs, cats, birds, bunnies, and fish, and has seen the joyous antics of so many different varieties of wildlife across the country. It is never a dull moment as the animals continue to entertain her with their daily lives. She got her love of nature from her grandmother, who could whistle a chickadee bird song to call them to the feeder, and have chipmunks run up her arm and sit on her shoulder to eat seed.
Terry got her love of books as a child when she had to read a lot to overcome dyslexia. So many stories sparked her imagination. She took a creative writing course, which helped her develop the skills to put that love and imagination to words. She became a freelance fiction writer, dabbling in different genres, but her funnest (or funniest) was contributing a weekly comedic advice column for a local newspaper. She recognized her niche for children’s stories when her own kids had to dress up for “Book Character Day” at their grade school. Since their costumes were not from any known book, Terry wrote her own story for each. And she has been writing children’s stories ever since.
It is with a great honor that Terry gets to collaborate with her artist daughter Sara for her next adventure – putting books into the hands of young readers.
About Sara
Sara fell in love with art from the minute she brought home her first drawing from preschool, a rainbow her parents proudly displayed on the fridge. That love went from paint-by-number to freehand drawings and painting, and always putting the family to shame in Pictionary. She loves almost every medium of art – photography, painting, digital, and even jewelry making. As a teenager, she had her artwork chosen for display in the Denver Natural History Museum and created a successful Etsy shop to sell her artwork. Sara received a Bachelor's degree in Finance with a minor in Visual Arts from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. After graduating college, she moved across the country with her then boyfriend (now husband) for a new adventure over on the East Coast. She has fallen in love with the East Coast’s fall, concrete jungle (NYC), and the many different foods (New Haven pizza and lobster rolls – YUM.) Although the beauty of the East Coast has become a special place in her heart, she looks forward to the day where Colorado is her home once again.
Sara got her love of animals from her mom. She started riding horses from the time she could sit up. She has cared for many pets, including fish, a bunny rabbit, and a Conure bird. Her favorite animal is dogs (her first word was "dog"). She is jokingly referred to as our "dog whisperer" when a timid dog that wouldn't go to anyone jumped on her lap for some petting. She is currently a dog Mama to the bestest boy out there – Blu, who she rescued over 5 years ago now. Blu loves to travel everywhere with Sara and her husband and has seen the mountains, cities and oceans across the country. Blu’s most prized possession is his tennis ball.
Sara is married to her high school sweetheart, whom she went to all 4 homecomings and proms with. They married in the fall of 2022, after almost 9 years of dating, in the beautiful town of Estes Park, Colorado.
While her finance job pays the bills, she is overjoyed to now work alongside her mom, bringing these children's characters to life.
